The Wicks Group (TWG) is pleased to announce that Nicolas Bloch has become a Senior Technical Consultant for the firm, drawing on more than 40 years of experience in aviation oxygen system design and manufacturing and international standards development. Mr. Bloch also has experience teaching courses in respiratory physiology and means of protection at altitude.
Mr. Bloch will serve as a subject matter expert supporting TWG’s consulting and legal engagements, with a particular focus on aircraft oxygen systems, aviation safety compliance, and technical advisory matters.. His expertise further expands TWG’s capabilities in providing specialized support to clients across regulatory, certification, and expert witness engagements.
Mr. Bloch previously served in Vice-President and Director positions for engineering or program management over a more than 20-year career with leading aircraft oxygen system design and manufacturing companies, including Safran Oxygen Systems and Zodiac Aerospace Oxygen Systems. Earlier in his career, Mr. Bloch served as Engineering Manager at Air Liquide Medical Systems, where he supported the design and manufacturing of respiratory care, home care, and anesthesia equipment.
In addition to his corporate work, Mr. Bloch has played a significant role in advancing global aviation safety standards through long-standing involvement with the SAE International A-10 Aircraft Oxygen Equipment Committee. As a Former Chairman, Vice-Chair, and Secretary of the Committee and current Steering Committee Member, Mr. Bloch has contributed to the development and maintenance of key industry standards for more than 15 years, including pioneering work on standards based on arterial blood oxygen saturation (SaO2) measurements.
Mr. Bloch has also provided technical expertise to major aircraft manufacturers on innovative oxygen system designs, including Equivalent Level of Safety (ELOS) and Equivalent Safety Findings (ESF) demonstrations. His work includes co-authoring the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) research project SAPOX: Safety Aspects of Pulse Oxygen Systems.
Mr. Bloch holds a Master of Science in Electrical Engineering from École Centrale de Lille (France), a Master of Science in Biomedical Engineering from New York University, and an Executive Master in Management from ESCP Business School (Paris, France).
