This past week, The Wicks Group’s Managing Director and Founder Glenn Wicks, along with Senior Advisor Loretta McNeir, participated in the sixth biennial U.S. – India Aviation Summit in Mumbai, India. Convened by the United States Trade and Development Agency (USTDA) in partnership with the U.S. – India Aviation Cooperation Program and India’s Ministry of Civil Aviation, the bilateral conference affirmed both countries’ commitment to advancing India’s aviation priorities and objectives.
Attendees of the conference, which ran from May 8th through 11th, included government officials from the U.S. Federal Aviation Administration, the Transportation Security Administration, the Indian Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) and the Indian Bureau of Civil Aviation Security. The Wicks Group was a summit sponsor, along with other aviation industry members such as Boeing, United Airlines, and Pratt & Whitney.
The Summit consisted of a series of panel discussions between members of the public and private sectors. Panelists were encouraged to share their experiences and best practices to help promote growth across all sectors of the Indian aviation industry. Glenn Wicks participated in the Summit’s penultimate panel, entitled “Best Practices in Aviation Safety: Runway Safety.” As a panelist, Mr. Wick’s spoke on the FAA’s new compliance philosophy and how it relates to ensuring runway safety in India.

Throughout the conference, The Wicks Group was commended by representatives of the U.S. government and the government of India for assisting India in regaining FAA IASA Category I status in April 2015, through a project supported by USTDA.
