Notice of Procedures for Submitting Clarifying Questions Concerning Flight, Duty, and Rest Requirements of part 117

The Federal Aviation Administration “FAA” published a final rule on January 4, 2012 amending and creating a new part 117, replacing the existing flight, duty and rest regulation’s that are applicable to certificate holders and their flight crew members. FAA believes that clarity regarding the rule among its stakeholder’s is vitally important in better preparing them for changes that they will need to make to be in compliance with the final rule. Therefore, FAA will respond to questions and provide regulatory clarity to those who submit clarification questions. Accordingly, FAA has now published aNotice that clarifies the procedures for submitting comments and questions concerning the flight, duty, and rest requirements in the new Part 117.the Flight, Duty, and Rest Requirements of Part 117. Please note that all questions and comments must be submitted before the June 4, 2012 deadline.

Pursuant to the Notice, if you wish to submit a request to the FAA for clarification you must send your request using one of the methods below:

1) Post your request on the Federal eRulemaking Portal. To access this electronic docket, go to http://www.regulations.gov, enter Docket Number FAA-2012-0358, and follow the online instructions for sending your request electronically.

2) In addition to sending your request to the electronic docket, it is asked that you send a copy via email to the subject matter expert specified in the Notice..
