Michael Fleming is Vice-President, Analytic Projects for The Wicks Group Consulting, with more than 25 years of experience in the aviation sector. Michael leads the firm’s analytic consulting services, advising airlines, airports, business aviation companies, think tanks, and investor groups. His expertise encompasses airport forecasting, financial modeling and feasibility studies, rates and charges studies, and analysis of aviation sector developments and trends. Michael also provides technical consulting services to foreign civil aviation authorities on harmonizing maintenance and other regulations with the US.

Michael’s experience prior to TWG includes serving as a Partner at another aviation consulting firm, where he led or served as senior consultant on a variety of aviation-related analytical and technical consulting assignments. He also worked for several years as a financial analyst and aircraft purchasing specialist for United Airlines and for an executive aircraft manufacturer.

Representative Experience

  • Leading the firm’s support to the Government of Japan regarding harmonization of foreign repair station and maintenance procedures regulations with the US
  • Performing traffic and movements forecasts, developing pricing models, and assisting with airport development and funding for US and foreign airports
  • Performing financial and operational analyses for airlines, and analyzing activities and developments in the passenger and cargo airline sectors
  • Advising foreign civil aviation authorities on the development of airport infrastructure, with a special emphasis on promoting business aviation activity and developing that sector
  • Advising flight departments and private aircraft operators on aircraft operations, corporate usage policies, and emergency response plans
  • Providing strategic advice, financial analysis and new program development assistance to several aircraft management companies, fractional ownership programs, and air taxi operators
  • Leading numerous studies of rates and charges, low-cost carriers, Antitrust Immunity, Open Skies Agreements and numerous other topics related to the US aviation market for an affiliate of the Japan Transport Ministry and the Narita Airport Authority
  • Providing strategic advice and financial analysis regarding new business ventures, strategic partnering, innovative ventures, and entry into new markets for several major aviation-related companies
