Gregory (Greg) Michael, a Senior Technical Consultant for The Wicks Group Consulting, brings 30 years of experience as a supervisory aviation safety inspector, manager, and executive for the Federal Aviation Administration to his work for TWG. His expertise encompasses all facets of air carrier operations oversight and personnel licensing and all ICAO Annex standards and recommended practices. His specific experience includes 15 years of conducting international standards oversight and assessment in the areas of personnel licensing and air carrier operations, either leading or participating on more than 30 FAA assessment teams worldwide, and he is a qualified instructor for the FAA International Aviation Safety Assessment course. Greg also has led accident, incident, and complaint, and regulatory enforcement investigations for the FAA. He is currently assisting with the firm’s aviation safety oversight improvement project for the civil aviation authority of India.

Representative Experience

• Providing aviation safety inspections technical assistance to foreign civil aviation authorities
• Conducting operational safety audits of domestic and international air carriers
• Developing surveillance plans and managing to completion
• Administering airmen practical tests for licensing for B-737, DC-9, DC-10, Certified Flight Instructor and FAR part 121 and 135 proficiency checks
• Participating in certification reviews for various pilot certificates and ratings, air carrier certifications, aviation training organization certifications
• Serving as an FAA Subject Matter Expert (SME) development of the International Aviation Safety Assessment (IASA) course and checklist and the ICAO Familiarization Course for FAA inspectors
• As Government Co-Chair, Joint Safety Implementation Teams (JSIT) for Controlled Flight into Terrain, Loss of Control, and Approach and Landing; As Government Co-Chair of the Joint Safety Implementation Team for Controlled Flight, leading efforts of a multi-disciplinary teams of government and industry aviation experts that achieved an 80% reduction in commercial accidents in 10 years
