Ford Chandler is an Analyst at The Wicks Group. His work primarily involves assisting foreign civil aviation authorities (CAAs) with meeting international aviation safety oversight and monitoring standards and recommended practices. His experience includes assisting with drafting and presenting training courses on aviation safety oversight topics for CAA inspectors and industry personnel in Angola, improving inspector training files, and drafting revised guidance for CAA inspectors and industry. Ford also draws on his Portuguese and other foreign language skills to support the firm’s international work through interpretation or translation.

Ford holds a Master in Urban and Environmental Planning from the University of Virginia and a Bachelor of Arts in Humanities, the Arts, and Social Thought from Bard College Berlin in Berlin, Germany. During his time at UVA, Ford’s research included the study of housing and other urban development in emerging economies. Ford’s undergraduate studies in Berlin enabled him to gain fluency in German.

• Analyzing foreign CAA documents to assess compliance with ICAO Annex 1, 6, and 8 standards and recommended practices and FAA Model Civil Aviation Regulations
• Assisting with drafting and updating civil aviation regulations and aviation safety inspector guidance materials
• Coordinating with civil aviation and industry personnel to acquire necessary documentation
• Editing curricula for foreign CAA inspector training courses
• Facilitating online training delivery to foreign CAA inspectors and industry personnel
• Updating and tracking aviation safety inspector training records
• Providing Portuguese-English and English-Portuguese translation and interpretation to facilitate project work
